The Discovery!
Welcome!!
If you've ever wondered why you feel stretched too thin, non-committal, or just exhausted, it could be because you're too distracted!
If this is you, this blog, and subsequent posts are God's way of reaching out to you!
I was recently reading a book, well multiple books, that reminded me of some simple truths that I have let fall by the wayside. I'd like to tout or brag that I'm better at staying focused on Christ, but the simple truth is: I've let too many worldly and meaningless distractions lead me away (not perpetually, but momentarily).
I've recently become a new father. While the joy of being a father often outweighs the perpetual state of exhaustion I now feel, I can let the new stage of life be a distraction for me from what really matters in life -- a relationship with Jesus Christ. No, I'm not saying my daughter is a bad aspect of my life by any means, but if Jesus isn't my (and your) first priority, I'm out of alignment and it effects all other areas of my life (and you will be too). The less time I spend in the morning praying, reading the Bible, or just sitting in God's presence directly results in an often more irritable version of myself. I don't like this version of me, and you shouldn't accept that version of you, either! In Christ, we have His Holy Spirit and thus have access to joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Let me pause by saying if you aren't a Christian, yet, don't leave or be discouraged! The books I will be discussing, among other things, in the posts to come can help out anyone! I would encourage you, though, to ask yourself some deep questions about life, what's waiting after death, and where your sense of fulfillment, joy, and love come from. There are many other questions to ponder, but this isn't a bad place to start!
When I first became a Christian, I couldn't put Jesus down (metaphorically, of course). I read the Bible every chance I got, granted I was single at the time, so I had more of it! I sought out others with more experience in their walk with Christ to learn and glean from, and I sought out other Christian related books to help with my everyday living. A couple of my main goals through the evolution of this blog is to help reach anyone I can to either avoid making the same mistakes I made, or to remind them they're not alone. No one is perfect, but a friendly reminder from another's experience is often the catalyst we may need to get back on track.
Stay tuned as we walk through this journey of life together and fix our hearts and minds back on Christ, where the greatest of all treasures is!
Thank you for taking the time to read brief introduction and I look forward to building relationships with anyone I can help and even vice versa. I don't have all the answers, so don't be shy to comment and let's converse!
