Avoiding Distractions (Overview) Work. Cooking. Family Time (For those that are married). Dating (for those that are single). Sleep (YES!). Commutes. Sports. Phones. The list is never ending... The list I've mentioned above are just a handful of the ways we are distracted, daily, from what truly matters - our relationship with Jesus Christ. Are any of the things above bad on their own? No, of course not! And that's where the underlying issue rears it's ugly head. Often we will tell ourselves that because we aren't doing anything "bad" (sinning) that we are still fine . Yes, naturally sinning would be worse, but often we can get complacent just going through the daily motions of life. Notice I say "we" because I too am guilty of these too often than I'd like to admit.  One of the things I noticed that helps get me back on track and focusing on Christ is doing things that make  me focus on Him.  Welcome!! If you've ever wondered why you feel stretched too thin, non-committal, or just exhausted, it could be because you're too distracted!  If this is you, this blog, and subsequent posts are God's way of reaching out to you! I was recently reading a book, well multiple books, that reminded me of some simple truths that I have let fall by the wayside. I'd like to tout or brag that I'm better at staying focused on Christ, but the simple truth is: I've let too many worldly and meaningless distractions lead me away (not perpetually, but momentarily).  I've recently become a new father. While the joy of being a father often outweighs the perpetual state of exhaustion I now feel, I can let the new stage of life be a distraction for me from what really matters in life -- a relationship with Jesus Christ.
